GEOGRAPHY TIPSA simple way to learn all 197 countries
Build a mental map by learning one region at a time, then test yourself without looking at a list.

Start with a region you already recognize. Find its large, familiar countries first, then use coastlines and neighboring borders to place smaller ones. Short, repeated recall sessions work better than trying to memorize the entire map at once. When a country slips your mind, look it up and test that region again later.

Notice colors, symbols, and layouts instead of memorizing flags as an unconnected list.

Group flags by a feature you can see: stripes, crosses, stars, or a shared set of colors. Then connect each symbol to a country or region. When you practice, name the country before checking the answer. Making yourself recall the name strengthens the visual connection.

Keep your largest tile anchored and build smaller tiles toward it in descending order.

Choose a corner for your largest tile and keep it there. Arrange the next largest tiles beside it in order, forming a descending chain. Before each move, consider whether it will pull your largest tile away from its corner or scatter the chain. Undo can help you recover from a move that breaks the pattern.

Begin with a region you know, then work outward from large countries to their neighbors. Europe is a useful place to practice compact borders; in Africa, group nearby countries into smaller clusters. Island nations are easier to remember as regional groups. After each run, revisit the countries you missed instead of repeating only the ones you already know.
